From our land to your pantry

Aronia (Aronia melanocarpa), also known as black chokeberry, is a perennial fruit native to North America. The small, deep-purple fruits grow in clusters on shrubs that return year after year.

Aronia is known for its bold color and distinctly tart, slightly dry flavor. That beautiful purple color comes in part from naturally occurring plant compounds called anthocyanins.

And although we call them berries, botanically aronia fruits are actually pomes—making them relatives of fruits like apples.
